It's that scary time againJizzmas time. It's week #5 of Jizzmas reviews!4.75 Hearts--"What the hell? I don't do blood play?"Charles kept him caged in the chair and trapped by the table. "I can assure you I am not playing."Well might be too soon to call it since we have just one more week of our Jizzmas reviews, but this is my FAVE of the bunch! 3.8 StarsSomething about the idea of gifting oneself with a human to kill on Christmas just tickled me (so subversive given the spirit of the season and all that), and I'm glad I went with my instinct to pick it up because I wasn't disappointed. Loved the mind-games, teasing & seduction. Definitely not your typical holiday read.

3.5 heartsI liked this one, not the best I’ve read, but most certainly very enjoyable. Charles is a vampire but only allows himself one night to kill his victims, Christmas night. This Christmas his victim will be Blake, an escort trying to get through university with no real family who wants him. This story takes place all in one night and due to this it only ends in a HFN, if that, and while that is definitely not a preference of mine, it would’ve felt rushed if there was anything more. The [...]

There have been a few interesting/unusual reasons for the various characters in this year’s Advent Calendar from Dreamspinner Press to say “Bah Humbug”. But I think that Charles, from ‘Vampire’s Dinner’, probably deserves to take first prize – at least among the stories I have read so far. For Charles, Christmas is the day he was killed by a werewolf, four hundred years ago, only to be revived by a vampire who then forced him to fight in his army until Charles decided to leave. Tha [...]

*SEXY!*How did I feel, this book is scary and sexy at the same time?Blake is one hell of a brave rent boy! He knew Charles will make him 'dinner' but yet, he 'negotiate'I liked the chemistry between Charles and Blake While Charles can't resist his need to 'eat' Blake, he wanted Blake for a longer time, to enjoy his braveness. And Blake, lust and fears set him on fire for the vampire. *shivers*By far, this one is my favorite from this bundle, I can feel it in my blood, tickles my masochistic need [...]

4.5 Hearts I really liked this one. I love a good vampire story where they don’t sparkle and Charles, well he kinda reminds me of the vampires I started reading when I was younger or even my most favorite vampire, Spike. That being said.I loved the idea of this; a 400 year old vampire giving himself one night, the anniversary of his death to indulge in what he truly is. Charles chooses the night to plan a dinner with a companion and then have the companion for dinner. The idea that Charles cann [...]

This is pretty dark, not very Christmassy and definitely not very light. Charles is a vampire who for some reason, every Christmas, hires a male prostitute and kills him. Seems his need to kill still is there. Since he can't eat or drink, he has dinner with them, reveals who he really is and then kills them, in part to keep them from revealing the truth. As well he can "taste" what they ate in their blood.Blake is estranged from his family and working his way through college as a male prostitute [...]

Well, not like what I expected, but still its good enough to light up this holiday season. My one and only complaint is i need more! It's way too short!

Reviewed on The Blogger GirlsI’m not sure how to write this review. It’s about Charles, a vampire, who only allows himself to reveal who he is once a year. Afterward, he drains the person who reveals himself to and kills them. Unfortunately, Blake is the escort he rents for the night who’s unlucky enough to be his victim. As the night goes on and Blake realizes what’s happening, he tries his hardest to convince Charles having a full-time companion is much better than being lonely a major [...]

Vampire, rent boy, Christmas, I’m sold!Blake is a rent boy, selling himself in the evenings to pay for his education. 3.5One of my favorite Advent Stories.Nichols manages to pack a lot of punch in a small number of pages.I love this story. It reminds me of Shahrazad telling stories ( 1001 nights), in order to avoid being beheaded by the King, so that he may marry a new virgin every night. Ali Baba and Alladin are stories that Shahrazad told.Charles and Blake's story remind me of the above. Charles is an old vampire. Once a year he chooses a victim to dine with him, treating them to a lavish meal as he tells the [...]

A great addition to the 2016 Advent Calender - a poignant look at the lonely Christmas, bit of fear, bit of bravado and a happy maybe for now!!Lets hope Blake gets enough under Charles' skin to keep him longer.Enjoyed

Great book but way too short. This book has the potential to be much more than it is. Don't get me wrong, it's a great book but I think it's on the short side. I would of liked to see more of the relationship between the two mc's and more about what happens next.

  • Elaine White

Super cute, hot story. A great plot and brilliant characterisation. I'd love to read more about these characters.

This was a good, quick read about wanting one thing only to realize that it is something else totally that you actually want.I love a good vampire read and even though this was a quick read it was extremely good. Charles turned out to not be the person that I thought he would be. Though he is a vampire he tries to only have what he truly wants only once a year. That want is to be able to be completely open and honest with his dinner companion on Christmas and tell them what he really is and what [...]

The story is about a 400 year old vampire who once a year pays a young man for his time on Christmas and makes a meal of him before the morning My reaction about seeing this title in my email box this morning wasn't good, I'm not a big fan of vampires; I rarely want to read a book featuring them and if I hadn't paid for the calendar I wouldn't have read this one and I would have missed a gem. There's not just the vampire angle that I normally don't like, there was also the escort paying for his u [...]

3 Stars! This was quite a bit darker than I was expecting honestly. While I enjoyed it, I was left with a feeling of sadness or maybe frustration that I really didn't get closure. This is more of a possible HFN but, truth be told, I needed more than that. There is definitely some lust, more so on Blake's part but there isn't what I would call romance (of course, I guess that could be considered subjective). This is really more sad than anything. Both of the men have undesirable and tragic pasts a [...]

Vampires at Christmas? What is this madness? Well, The Vampire's Dinner is a beautiful story of finding something you didn't even realize you were missing. Paranormal, Christmas, and heart makes this a wonderful addition to my holiday shelf.

  • Michael

I'm going with 3.25 stars. I'm not sure I really like either MC's but the possibility is there if this were actually the first part of a much longer story. This story read could easily be expanded and I could easily see it as the beginning of a 4+ Star book.

  • Katy Beth Mckee

Charles has a plan and a tradition hundreds of years in the making. But Blake doesn't let him proceed as planned and turns the holiday on it's heels. Neither man ends up with what they had quite expected.

  • Monika

    More please!!!!

  • Lillian Francis

Not really a romance. More an arrangement that has the chance to become something more.Quite hard to like Charles and that doesn't really change throughout the story.

  • Andrea

Very quick read. Writing's a little choppy but I enjoyed.
