Turns out Al Macy's fictional characters are just as funny as the man himself. Or reallyturns out Al Macy's humor comes across in both his fiction and nonfiction writing. Either way this was good fun, sort of action comedy combo about a man who really, really hates terrorists, really, really loves his wife and really, really doesn't take himself seriously. Nice mindless way to pass an hour or so. Apparently part of a series, but works well as a stand alone too.

Fast paced easy readThis is a short, but action-packed ride. The main character, Jake Corby, seems to bumble his way from mess to near disaster to resolution, while accumulating a variety of bodily injuries The bad guys have a James Bond villain weapon. Little time is dedicated to how it works, but Corby remains at the story at the centre, and you kind of fixate on him like watching a slow motion almost-train wreck.Macy does a very good job of orchestrating a disaster at the International Space S [...]

Corby is always a winner!I love the humor of Jake Corby, and the intelligence which authorized Macy has given him. I always love a little klutzy behavior and humor in a guy who always comes out on top on spite of it. It makes me want to cheer him on. Certainly this is an easy and a great read!

    This isn't a book; it's a short story.

Wow! What an exciting short story! This “book” starts off with Jake getting taken prisoner, beaten up and then getting rescued by Seal Teams! What a typical start for a Jake Corby Novel. The action seems to continue non-stop. I won’t reveal the plot, but Jake has to save the Astronauts bacon while they are in the Orbital Space Lab! Now, figure that one out.The writing is really good. The story flows really well and I like the sarcastic humor coming from Jake Corby. I can almost see myself [...]

Disclaimer: I received The Antiterrorist at no charge in exchange for an honest review, although Mr. Macy did send me an email that stated the review was not necessary. Because of the release from my review duty I postponed reading The Antiterrorist until just a few hours ago. I now think that Mr. Macy had enough confidence in his writing to say the review was not required fully knowing I would not be able to resist writing one (he is obviously psychic, as he does not know me). I never give deta [...]

I thought this was a great, fast paced, quick read. The main character, Jake Corby is witty, charming with a kind of James Bond-ish personality. He is a consultant working for the government to investigate a terrorist group that might be responsible for satellites disappearing. Jake gets into some major trouble while outside their compound. The satellites that are missing literally disappear and it is imperative to find out who is responsible, how they are executing the disappearances and where t [...]

First read of this author. I enjoyed it quite a bit. Is it high-brow literature? No. Is it just good fun story-telling? Yes. I'd recommend this for anyone looking for a light, dry wit, fun read. But I must add, the final space-based situation had my heart pounding. Which, frankly, surprised me. I'll be looking for his other offerings.

Good read worth your time to get both of the books, this one and Contact USThis is a good read for ages from 15 up, I say this because of some of the mild violence and complex concepts that need an older teens knowledge.

  • Glenda Beck

Great story. Hero who didn't know when to keep his mouth shut; who got the job done even if it meant personal sacrifice. Loved Jake and the development of all the characters
