There was a lot in this book that I enjoyed and some aspects that I didn't. I'm a paranormal girl, so I loved the ghosts and how they were incorporated into the world. I wasn't overly fond of the main character, Kelsey. Occasionally I wanted to smack her. Perhaps it's because I'm used to more aggressive heroines. She wasn't poorly written, by any means, and for the most part, I really felt for her. I wanted to see her grow a spine and tell a few people off.I'm very curious to see how things go n [...]

I loved this book. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time and couldn't put it down. The idea of being reaped is very interesting and new and a bit scary. The way we introduced to Kelsey Fitzhugh is very funny. She is talking to ghost and then yells at them to shut up on the plane and then proceeds to blame it on the baby that is crying. When she gets off the plane, she meets Jed Forrester when he calls her "baby hater" as a joke. From there, one new character at a time gets introduced, who [...]

Full disclosure: I know the author. For a first time book and building a universe the book is really good. But it really starts gaining momentum at the end and stands the chance of being a good series. I can't wait for the next book. At first it seemed similar to another book that I read, but in the end it proves to be original and unique. It gets complicated in bits, but I think it will be ironed out in the next book. It will be interesting to see how the characters develop especially with the [...]

Usually I read multiple books at a time, but once I started this one I had to read it 'til I reached the end. It reminded me of Kim Harrison's Hollows series, and like that series, had me guessing what parts the characters introduced were going to play. As well as where the plot was leading me. I made some good predictions and had some good surprises, just as any excellent book should have! I can't wait for the next one, and to find out where the story is going to go!

It was a tough start with this book. I kept getting distracted by other books because it was so slow in the beginning. About halfway through it started picking up and I am glad that I chose to finish it. Once it picked up I had no trouble getting sucked into the story, and it's ending was perfect although I feel it could have gone further. All in all, a great read!
